About this experience

This is an ideal opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the intricacies of glassblowing. Over the day you will discover the phenominal potential of this unique and alluring material. 

 

We offer dedicated One-on-One tuition, ensuring you maximise the learning opportunities and develop your skills as quickly as possible, or the option to share the day with a friend or loved one. 

 

Your expert tutor will guide you through many of the fundamental processes involved in glass blowing.  This day is very hands-on. You will learn how to gather liquid glass from the furnace, blow, shape and add colour to it.  You will learn how to form glass using wooden blocks, metal tools and even wet newspaper!  You will produce some basic forms such as baubles, paperweights and learn how to apply a punty to the glass so it can be opened to create vessels such as tumblers or vases. Your tutor will assist you in the development of your ideas and assist you to make your ideas.

 

This is a much more hands-on experience than our short 'Experiences' and It is ideal for anyone who really wishes to gain a more detailed appreciation of the craft, or to refine skills you acquired on a previous course. 

 

Who is it for?

This fun and stimulating experience is for those looking for a proper introduction to the principles and processes of glassblowing. Due to the hands-on nature of this option the minimum age 16 years.

How to book

Demand for in-depth tuition into glassblowing is less predicatable than for short experiences. Therefore we schedule dates for these with you directly. We cannot always guarantee your first choice of date so recommend you contact us as early as possible to secure the day. Tuition vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be given as a gift.
