Kaleidoscope Collection

In 2025 Glassblowing and lead-crystal cutting’ will both be formally classified as endangered heritage crafts. As such it is increasingly crucial to pass on the skills practiced in the UK since 1684, to the next generation.

Every year Cumbria Crystal sponsors a project with  students from the Royal College of Art, Britain's only post-graduate art & design college (voted best in the world 10 years in succession). Participants learn to cut crystal with one of Britain’s last master crystal cutters, are shown how a glassblowing business operates and are challenged to develop new designs. This year the stunning Kaleidoscope Collection was created by Xinlu Liu. It is so attractive we just had to put it into production!

Kaleidoscope is unusual in that it is based on the idea of complimentary pairs seen as identical, but inverted designs on the crystal. "Like individuals coming together & forming harmonious bonds, this series celebrates uniqueness and togetherness in people and relationships.”
