Optic moulds have been used for hundreds of years to enable patterns to be formed into glass whilst it is hot. The aesthetic effect is different to that achieved by the time-consuming, cutting and polishing processes Cumbria Crystal is famous for, but is no less dramatic. This nature of the blowing & optic moulding presents trainee glass makers with a useful way to develop their 'mould-blowing' skills, which are an essential part of the Production Glassblower's toolkit.

I shouldn't have waited as long as I did to finally purchase. If these are the "outlet" items that did not meet the typical standards, then I wouldn't be able to tell. That just speaks volumes about Cumbria's attention to detail and standards, but not allowing the outlet items to go to waste.
Having bought some Cumbria Crystal before, and needing some additional glasses, by chance I saw the Mixology range and immediately order them. Delivery was quick and the glasses - with different individual patterns, are in keeping with the quality product that Cumbria Crystal supplies. All in all, we are very happy with our purchase and would definitely recommend them.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time looking for the right glass and this is it. Perfect in every way. Looks beautiful, the different glass surfaces feel great in the hand and the feel of the weight/heft is exactly right. I appreciate that the product details specified the weight—it’s a key aspect that I’ve found commonly missing in product details elsewhere.

Is it psychological when you enjoy a cup of tea from a china cup, probably, but it definitely adds to the experience for me. Likewise there is something about drinking a good whiskey from such a well crafted item such as this, with the glass catching the light (the way it does) and the heavy quality of it in hand. I thought I’d try a factory seconds one first and this alone is already quality with very few inclusions. My intention is to get a gold standard one next but hopefully combine it with a visit to the factory this year!. The quality is a testament to the team at Cumbria Crystal who clearly take a pride in their work. Thanks agin for such a lovely piece
